We Are
Turning Pages started as a simple social gathering in a living room by founders Molly and Danay. It was an opportunity for friends to bond over books which naturally led to bonding over life. The evening showed us how valuable sharing a space is and the importance of touching base with our innate humanness; the feeling of connection and community.
As much as online communities have been thriving and are important, we've also seen a huge disconnect between such groups. Due to the anonymity of social media, connecting through a screen can lead to disconnecting in real life. We are here to be the antidote to disconnection.
An important distinction to make when comparing our book club to others, is that we carve out an hour of reading time during our events. We also have no set reading list. You bring whatever book you are currently reading (or are meaning to) to the gathering. This encourages diverse conversation and makes our events the best place to expand that To Read List.
Every Turning Pages evening ends with a fun social over a drink at the bar. The social aspect of our events are key to making space for our community to discuss and muse about the books of past and present. It's also a perfect way to make friends!
We host across various locations across London. Past locations include: Tate Modern, the Barbican, Royal Society of Arts House and Kindred. As founders, we love a good reading location and we find immense joy in discovering London's finest book friendly nooks.
